| Since 1979, when Norm and Wanda
Stanley founded the company, Island Tug and Barge Co has been providing timely and
quality marine towing throughout Puget Sound. Recently, Dave Wells and Frank Ellefsen,
two long-time employees, purchased Island Tug & Barge. Today, our fleet varies from 4000horsepower ocean towing vessels, to
A-frame pusher tugs ideally suited for the marine
construction industry. Island Tug and Barge has been providing towing services for
most of the major construction projects in Puget Sound, including all three floating
bridges. We have a long history of projects that couldn’t be done’ and we performed
beyond our customer's expectations in every case. With the addition of the larger vessels
and barges, our area of operation has grown to include towing on the West Coast,
Alaska, Hawaii, and now the Western
Hemisphere.
Our barge fleet is capable of hauling
containers or recycled and bulk materials, and we have
various special project boats or barges available to fit your needs. We are an approved
towing contractor for the Department of Defense, State of Washington, and maintain our
Central Contractor Registration for the U.S. government.
Even though Island Tug and Barge has grown, our 'small
company' philosophy holds true for each and every customer. What we have
going for us is our 'can do' attitude and our ability to
offer excellent service at a competitive rate.
